Marine grader

Custom grading solutions

Graders at sea require active motion compensation which always gives accurate readings even on the roughest seas. Whether the product is whole fish, round or flat fish, H&G or fillets, each product has a different destination and therefore its own solution. As the space available on vessels is always limited, MARELEC offers tailor-made designs that suits your request.

MARELEC has many years of experience in grading solutions on vessels. Factory trawlers, processing vessels or coastal fishing vessels – each boat or situation is unique. With its solid background and experience in grading systems, MARELEC can offer a wide range of solutions for the specific needs of each customer. MARELEC places a priority on openness with customers, in order to fulfil needs and expectations.

All grading systems consist of three important components:

  • Infeed:
MARELEC offers a wide range of options for these systems. The right infeed system will be selected depending on the application (type of fish) and requested capacity, ergonomics, and preliminary stages in the production process. Various species selection systems are available, ranging from manual to fully automatic species recognition systems.
  • Weighing:
Fish products are mostly weighed dynamically. Precision and speed are the most important elements of the weighing system. MARELEC provides the right solution, depending on the dimensions and weights of the products.
  • Sorting and/or batching:
We can present a variety of solutions to you, depending on the type of fish products that need to be graded. The sorting systems we offer are not limited to pull or push arms (flippers), retract conveyors, etc. The sorting stations are fully customized to customers' specific needs. These stations can be equipped with (low angle) batching bins, presentation trays, tables, etc. Customized labels can be generated for each batch or tray by adding a label printer to the setup.

One or more take-away conveyors can be optionally used to transport the batches or trays to the following stage in the production process. The grading systems can be connected to the MATRIX software, which allows full integration and traceability in the production line.

Active motion compensation

Active motion compensation is necessary for accurate weighing at sea. Vessels with lengths of over 20 meters that grade small high-end products require high precision, while speed is essential for throughput. Larger vessels could catch huge quantities of fish that have to be processed at high speed while keeping the weighing accuracy as high as possible.

Modular concept

MARELEC grading systems are built with modular key component parts. This reduces the number of spares and guarantees swift maintenance with a minimum of downtime.

Hygienic design

The graders have a completely open structure, without hidden corners, for ease of cleaning and disinfection. The design of the graders avoids horizontal surfaces. Batching stations can be opened easily. All electrics and electronics are contained in a completely sealed cabinet with a unique hygienic labyrinth double sealing. All materials used are FDA approved.

Service

MARELEC has built a strong reputation for its after-sales service. A team of service engineers is available 24/7 to attend to your queries. All MARELEC grading systems can be connected to the internet. This allows our service team to diagnose the status of the machine from our head office, so we can provide immediate assistance.

Flexible design

A team of experienced engineers translates the customer's requirements and specific needs into a grading system that is custom designed and built. This flexible approach guarantees an accurate solution for the application maintaining the maximum throughput as priority with a minimal footprint.
