Marelec’s customized automation solution helps Procavi improve operational efficiency, streamline production, and ensure consistent product quality across their turkey meat production.
Procavi, an Andalusian agri-food company, specializes in turkey meat production. Since its establishment in 2002, continuous investment in innovation has positioned the company as a technological leader in the sector. Now part of the Grupo Fuertes holding, it has become a significant player in Europe.
As a leader in Spain's turkey-fattening industry, Procavi boasts a daily production capacity of 500-600 tonnes, securing a market share of over 52%.
Its integrated system covers the entire production cycle, from hatchery to distribution, with an emphasis on productivity and environmental responsibility.
The project has entailed the automation of piece cutting through the parameterization and standardization of size and shape, eliminating the manual intervention that was previously required from operators. This approach, while streamlining the production process, also mitigated challenges arising from excessive handling.
With the implementation of this automated system, there has been a significant reduction in manpower requirements, leading to increased operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Additionally, the standardization of product dimensions ensures consistency and precision, contributing to an improvement in overall product quality. Moreover, the automated cutting process enhances quality control by minimizing the risk of contamination.
This project has not only optimized operational processes but also enhanced product quality and reliability, ultimately contributing to a more efficient and streamlined manufacturing environment.
Procavi began the collaboration with Marelec largely as a result of its reputation for providing high-value equipment and offering solution-based approaches. The partnership was initiated following an initial approach from the local Marelec branch manager. Marelec introduced a solution that was customized to meet the customer's specific requirements. The proposed resolution entailed the installation of two PORTIOs interconnected by an STS. The process involves placing turkey fillets into PORTIO 1D-300, where the strips are distributed and semi-automatically loaded into PORTIO 1DAP. Here, they undergo a transformation into fixed-weight cubes measuring 3x3cm.
Enabling a consistent flow of products with a fixed weight and thickness has resulted in increased productivity and enhanced cutting quality, saving Procavi time and money while ensuring the satisfaction of its customers throughout the country.
