Marelec’s integrated inspection and grading solution helps Guldfågeln strengthen food safety, improve efficiency, and ensure consistent quality at high throughput.
Guldfågeln, part of the family-owned Blentagruppen, is one of Sweden’s leading poultry producers, supplying safe, high-quality chicken through a fully integrated production operation. As production volumes increased and customer expectations continued to rise, maintaining consistent product safety became an even greater priority.
While manual checks had long been part of the process, they made it difficult to guarantee the same high standard across every fillet at higher throughputs. To address this challenge, Guldfågeln invested in advanced Marelec inspection and grading solutions, supplied and integrated locally by Multivac, Marelec’s distributor in Sweden.
Guldfågeln installed two complete Marelec lines, fully integrated with their breast cap deboners, and has recently ordered a third line. The solution combines multiple inspection technologies to deliver precision, consistency, and efficiency at scale.
At the start of each line, Marelec Flowscales ensure accurate weighing before processing. Each line also includes a manual rework station and an I Vision system that detects blood spots early in the process, reducing unnecessary corrections and improving overall efficiency.
For final inspection, the MXV Slim X-ray system checks every fillet for bone fragments while simultaneously recording its precise weight. Products flagged during inspection are automatically diverted for trimming before re-entering the flow. Once approved, fillets are accurately graded into weight categories, ensuring reliable portioning every time.
The installation connects seamlessly with an existing portion cutter and an additional grader, giving Guldfågeln the flexibility to produce fixed-weight portions whenever specific categories require extra supply. Through Marelec’s technology, the complete system was smoothly integrated into Guldfågeln’s existing processing environment.
Both lines deliver impressive performance and can operate at speeds of up to 15,000 fillets per hour, supporting high-volume production without compromising safety or accuracy.
By combining data from both lines, Guldfågeln now benefits from real-time yield insight with full traceability. A tailored real-time dashboard translates production data into actionable information, allowing the team to respond immediately to performance changes and keep every run optimized.
This data-driven approach strengthens process control, supports continuous improvement, and reinforces confidence in every product leaving the line.
With Marelec’s inspection technology, Guldfågeln has implemented a future-proof solution that standardizes quality control, improves efficiency, and safeguards consumer trust. The result is a consistently high level of product safety and a strong foundation for continued growth.
